An antique Victorian, Edwardian salt glazed stoneware fire-ball.

The stoneware ball made in two sections before being joined with a visible seem. The body covered with a dimpled golf ball pattern with six holes equally spaced around the sphere and covered in a salt glaze. These were designed to increase air flow in open fires to increase heat and efficiency. Circa late 19thearly 20th century.
