British WW2 Aldis Portable Signalling Lamp Set

An original British Second World War Aldis portable signaling lamp set, used by military personnel for visual communication using Morse code during both daylight and night operations. Designed for field portability, the set is housed within its original metal battery/storage box complete with canvas cover and carrying strap.

The set comprises the signalling lamp head, Morse key transmitter assembly mounted to the box, four interchangeable coloured lens filters (red, purple, blacked-out/night filter, and green), battery compartment, spare parts box, connecting wires, and three screw-together metal extension rods which attach to the lamp assembly, allowing the lamp to be elevated for improved visibility over longer distances. The spare parts box is marked "Lamps Signalling Daylight, Box Spare Parts Mk II, 1944".

Constructed for rugged military service, these signalling lamps were widely employed by British and Commonwealth forces for ship-to-shore, vehicle-to-vehicle, and ground communications where radio silence was required. The surviving set displays expected wartime wear, age-related patina, and service use, adding to its authenticity and historical character.

A substantial and increasingly scarce complete wartime signalling outfit, ideal for military collectors, WW2 displays, museums, reenactment groups, or communications equipment collections.
