This round set of huddling figures is commonly known as 'The Circle of Friends' and can be interpreted as a popular symbol of unity and brotherhood in modern Mexico. The figures appear to be evolved from various ancient ceramic figurines from the Aztec and Maya civilizations. The friends are produced in the traditional 'barro' pottery style by a small family workshop near Texcoco, Mexico.
