These fascinating plaques depict a Mayan scene of ritual human sacrifice. In pre-Columbian Mayan culture, human sacrifice was used in order to please their gods. Evidence for the prevalence of human sacrifices in Mayan culture has been found in numerous rock art sites and engravings of which this plaque is based upon.
