Nautiluses, are a marine mollusk and a living fossil, with ancestors dating back over 500 million years to the Cambrian period. These animals belong to the cephalopod family and are characterized by their spiral, chambered shells, which can reach up to 10 inches in diameter.

Nautiluses inhabit deep ocean waters in the Indo-Pacific region, including areas around coral reefs near Indonesia, Australia, and the Philippines. They use their many tentacles to capture prey such as shrimp and small fish and regulate buoyancy with their shell chambers. Remarkably, they have survived multiple mass extinctions, making them a unique window into Earth's ancient marine ecosystems.
