A full size replica medal, bronze plated, in a plastic presentation pouch with educational information.

The Victoria Cross (VC) was instituted in January 1856 during the reign of Queen Victoria. It is the highest recognition for valour “in the face of the enemy” that can be awarded to members of the British and Commonwealth armed forces of any rank in any service, and civilians under military command. It is also the highest military award in the British Honours system.

The bronze to make the medals comes from cannons captured during the Crimean War and later from the Boxer Rebellion in China.
