Daeodon, often called "terrible pig," was a massive prehistoric mammal that lived approximately 23 to 16 million years ago during the Miocene epoch.

Belonging to the entelodont family, it was among the largest of its kind, standing up to 6 feet tall at the shoulder and weighing around 1,000 pounds or more. Despite its pig-like appearance, it was an omnivorous apex predator with strong jaws and robust teeth, capable of crushing bones.

Fossils of Daeodon have been found across North America, particularly in regions such as South Dakota and Nebraska, indicating it thrived in open woodlands and grasslands.
